For the benefit of the community

Following a public meeting in Kingussie in September 2005 a steering group was set up to create a development company for the benefit of the community in the town and surrounding area.

Earning money for the community

One of the primary aims of the Company is to restore the hydro turbine on the River Gynack as a means of earning revenue for the community.
K.C.D.C. has been set up to benefit the community of Kingussie and its constitution enables it to do this in a wide variety of ways.
Initially the company will concentrate on the hydro project, but should have the flexibility to expand in to other projects in the future.

Wide involvement and support

As well as the public who attended the initial meeting, the steering group has met with:
- Local land managers
- Highlands and Islands Enterprise’s (H.I.E.) Community Energy Company (C.E.C.)
- Scottish Natural Heritage (S.N.H.)
- The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (S.E.P.A.)
- Spey Fisheries Board

The idea has met with a very positive response.

You are part of the community!

Now that the steering group has created K.C.D.C. as a company, we need your continued involvement so that it really does represent the needs of the community. K.C.D.C. belongs to the membership and it is important YOUR thoughts and ideas are taken on board by the Directors
