KCDC SPARKS OFF BADENOCH and STRATHSPEY ENERGY DAY |

“Charged up” by the Highlands and Islands Community Energy Company. Kingussie Community Development Company (KCDC) are encouraging residents, businesses, clubs and community groups throughout Badenoch and Strathspey to find out how renewable energy can reduce their energy bills and lower their carbon footprint.
“Given the recent floods in Kingussie, people are becoming more and more aware of the impacts of climate change. KCDC aim to show people how making small changes in their homes and workplaces can have a positive impact on the environment, and their energy bills!” says KCDC Chairman Donnie Grant.
Professional demonstrations and advice on solar heat pumps, woodfuel boilers, wind, hydro and sustainable transport will be available, plus advice on energy efficiency in the home and workplace The event is being sponsored by Highlands and Islands Community Energy Company (HIECEC) and will be held in Talla nan Ros in King Street, Kingussie on Saturday 18th August and will be open from 10.30am until 4pm. Displays and competitions for children are included and admission is free. Refreshments will also be available.
KCDC’s new logo will be unveiled at the Energy Day. Local schoolgirl Roma McCook won a competition at Kingussie High School to create a logo for the local development company. Her winning design bears the slogan “bringing people together.” Roma’s logo was professionally adapted for KCDC by Highland designer Melissa Gray of Gray Scotland Design .
